SCRIPTS by Michele Bousquet
NOTE: All scripts are written for Autodesk 3ds max and will run only within that program.

Handmaker

As a character modeler, I am constantly creating hands and claws of all kinds. I wrote this script to create a basic hand/paw/claw that I could plop onto a character.

This script creates a parametric 3D hand in the 3ds max interface. Adjustable parameters include number of fingers, finger splay, thumb angle, and finger taper. Just some of the parameters are shown at left. The hand can also be smoothed automatically and collapsed to an Editable Poly so you can customize it further. The ZIP file includes a short write-up of the math behind the script.

After the script is installed, choose the new Body Parts option on the Create panel > Geometry pulldown menu. Click Hand, then click and drag in the top viewport from left to right to create the hand.

Footmaker

Once I had a parametric hand maker, of course I had to have a parametric foot maker too. The foot is pretty abstract, but it generates a good starting point for a foot, paw, or shoe.

After the script is installed, choose the new Body Parts option on the Create panel > Geometry pulldown menu. Click Foot, then click and drag in the top viewport from left to right to create the foot.

Fractal Generator

3ds max is is really built for 3D images, but I decided to see if I could make it create a 2D fractal image. It can, but it ain't the fastest. Still, it has a great example of random equation generation. Below are some samples of images created with the script.
